General Civil Engineering is a discipline which is the combination of four branches: geospatial, transportation, structural, and geotechnical. CLSA focuses on the surveying aspect, covering the different of photogrammetry, Global Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and other techniques in order for us to map surfaces in preparation of construction projects, excavation, and to resolve land disputes. Cal Poly Pomona’s program utilizes a bulk of these skills to better prepare students for the field.
Through Cal Poly Pomona’s Civil Engineering program, our Surveying and Geomatics Engineering option is one of only 10 ABET accredited programs across the nation. The Geospatial Option includes a wide range of coursework, with an emphasis in surveying, remote sensing, photogrammetry, GPS, and GIS research. The ultimate goal of this program is to prepare students to become licensed Civil Engineers (Professional Engineer) and licensed surveyors (Professional Land Surveyor).
